The mission of New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble is to provide the highest quality, pre-professional training to aspiring dancers from New Jersey through professional experiences with world-renowned dancers, teachers, choreographers, and musicians. This year, NJDTE celebrates 42 years of the highest caliber of pre-professional dance training while ensuring its future through residency programs throughout NJ.
Artist Bio
Ms. Turano was born in New Jersey and trained at NJDTE and received her B.F.A. in dance from SUNY Purchase. She was a principal dancer with Ballet Hispanico of New York and Buglisi/Foreman. Her choreography has been presented around the world in and featured on PBS Channel 13. Since 1994, as Artistic Director of NJDTE, she has been acknowledged for creating innovative training and as a leader in AIE and for opening borders for international exchange programs while establishing a a brilliant faculty to serve as mentors for talented dancers from NJ. She has nurtured and produced a new generation of distinctive, highly skilled dancers who are successful in the professional dance world. Turano is the recipient of numerous grants and awards including, NJSCA Distinguished Teaching Artist Award 2011, Governors Award 2012, “Outstanding Alumni” by Chancellor of SUNY Schools, the Harkness Foundation, NJSCA, Arnhold Foundation, and Istituto Italiano for her work.
