Description
When a hate group harasses young Isaac for having a menorah in his window, the townspeople band together to fight the bullies and bigotry threatening their community. Using music and an exceptional array of puppetry techniques,this play teaches students about tolerance and acceptance by recounting the remarkable events of a 1993 Billings, Montana, bias incident that attracted national attention.
Working with Young Audiences of New Jersey and noted children’s author Janice Cohn, Catskill Puppet Theatre created this captivating production based on Ms. Cohn’s award-winning book, The Christmas Menorahs: How a Town Fought Hate.

Technical Requirements
Ability to darken room is vital (it doesn’t need to be pitch black—cover windows). Performance space on the same level as audience. Floor needs to be flat. No carpeting where the performance area is. 12 ft. ceiling required, performance space needs to be 20 ft. wide and 20 ft. deep, with access to electricity. Artists arrive 2 hours in advance to set up. Mix grades together (e.g., K-6). Please bring kindergarten children 5 minutes early to meet the puppet villain.
