Yah-Oh-Way
Description
Yah-Oh-Way, meaning “it is good” in Hopi, highlights the true depth and complexity of Native American societies. Students experience the origins and meanings of the various songs, dances, and traditions of the many tribes that inhabited North America before the arrival of Europeans. By participating in traditional ceremonies, including the Feather Dance, an annual expression of Thanksgiving, students are encouraged to honor and celebrate the history and cultural diversity Native peoples.

Dressing area. Standing mic. Prefer to be on stage but gym floor will also work. Artist will arrive one hour in advance.

The Thunderbird program, Yah-oh-way, was phenomenal. All of the children from Kindergarten through 5th grade were focused on the dances and the stories behind them. The content was great with information on each nation and explanations of the meaning or inspiration behind each dance. The children laughed at times and were in awe at others. The program exceeded expectations and I highly recommend it to other schools!
