Bach 2 Rock: The Science of Sound
Artist: Caryn Lin
Type: Performances / Assemblies, Early Childhood, Art Festivals
Description
This multi-media presentation transforms sound with a five-string electric violin and a myriad of modern technology. Students journey from the classical days of Bach to today’s techno-wonders. Through modern techniques of music production and unique and dynamic soundscapes, students learn the scientific concepts and art involved in the creation of live music. Three-dimensional sound waves become visible, bringing music to life before the audience’s very eyes—and ears!
Post-performance workshops are also available. Caryn works with smaller groups of students (about 25 per workshop) to demonstrate looping, sound effects, and other techniques she shares throughout her performance to give students a more in-depth, hands-on experience. These workshops are appropriate for string students or band students, or Caryn can conduct a general music workshop.
