Artist Bio
Established in 1974 in an abandoned supermarket with a subscriber base of only 100, George Street Playhouse has gone on to develop a national reputation for its high-quality productions of contemporary work, including the Pulitzer and Tony award-winning play Proof, which was developed in workshop at GSP. As part of its mission to serve community needs, it created a touring company in 1988 that presents 4 to 5 issue-oriented plays a year. The George Street Playhouse Outreach Touring Company now reaches 80,000 students annually with its performances at almost 300 schools in the tri-state area.
